Understanding the Y chromosome
The Y chromosome is inherited and passed on from father to son through the generations. Since it has a relatively infrequent mutation rate, it will remain the same through many generations. It is only broken by the birth of a daughter but if a direct male line can be traced then all males in that direct male lineage will have the identical Y pattern. Once we have the DNA samples, we will compare the Y chromosome profile of the individuals tested to establish whether there is a match between the profiles. Individuals sharing a common paternal ancestor will share the same Y chromosome profile.
Y chromosome testing is priced from $299 for two males to be tested. Results are ready in 5-7 working days.
Note: Males from the same paternal line will all share the same Y chromosome. This means that it is impossible to establish the relation between the males testing based upon the results of DNA test. The Y test will confirm that the males tested share a common, biological male ancestor but cannot tell you how the tested males are related.
Due to New York State Department of Health regulations, we cannot offer any peace of mind paternity or relationship tests to New York residents. However, we can offer legal paternity and relationship tests in New York. Contact us or click here for more information.

Discovering your ancient paternal ancestry
Males wishing to discover their ancient ancestral origins from their paternal side can undertake a male lineage test. The male lineage test is used to trace your ancestral heritage many thousands of years back. The results will show your haplogroup designation and a haplogroup description page; a personalized map depicting your ancestors’ journey and where they initially settled in the ancient world as well as your Y-STR profile (raw data).
